Two Major Champions Commit To Play In The HP Byron Nelson Championship
Irving, TX – David Toms and Mike Weir have officially committed to play in the 2009 HP Byron Nelson Championship. Toms is No. 21 in the race for the FedExCup and No. 21 in PGA TOUR Money Leaders. Weir is No. 19 in the Official World Golf Ranking, No. 27 in the FedExCup standings and No. 25 in PGA TOUR Money Leaders.
Toms will be looking to add another PGA TOUR victory to his roster of 12, which includes the 2001 PGA Championship. His best finish this season was T2 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Toms ranks No. 1 in driving accuracy percentage and No. 8 in putting average on the PGA TOUR. This will be his 13th appearance at the Championship.
Weir ranks No. 2 in PGA TOUR eagles (holes per). He has claimed eight PGA TOUR victories, including the 2003 Masters, with his most recent win at the 2007 Fry’s Electronics Open. His best 2009 finish was 2nd at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. This will be Weir’s eighth Championship appearance. He is T18 in putting average on the PGA TOUR.
