EDS Byron Nelson Championship To Return To One Course Format In 2008

TPC Four Seasons course to undergo extensive redesign immediately following 2007 tournament

Irving, TX – The Salesmanship Club announced today that beginning in 2008 the EDS Byron Nelson Championship will be played on only one course. Since 1995, the tournament has been officially a two-course format played on both the TPC Four Seasons and Cottonwood Valley Course.

"This decision is made possible because of the commitment of BentleyForbes, the new owners of the Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas, to initiate a multi-million dollar redesign of the TPC Four Seasons," said Andy Stern, chairman of the Salesmanship Club Charitable Golf of Dallas.

"We understand that D. A. Weibring/Golf Resources Group will redesign every tee box, fairway, green and bunker on the golf course as well as modernizing the underground infrastructure. The upgrade will include softening and naturalizing the stadium mounding, moving significant trees to where they will have more impact and dramatically improving the practice range and short game area. The lake along the 18th hole will also be expanded."

The EDS Byron Nelson Championship has been played at the Four Seasons since 1983 and solely on TPC from 1983 to 1994.

In 1994, Cottonwood Valley was called into use under emergency circumstances as a result of severe rains that cancelled the Thursday and Friday rounds on TPC due to soggy course conditions. Both courses were used on Saturday so the field could complete 36 holes, making the tournament an official event. The next year, the PGA TOUR approved use of Cottonwood Valley on an ongoing basis for the tournament.

The 2007 EDS Byron Nelson Championship will be played April 25-29 at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas in Irving, Texas. For details, visit www.byronnelson.pgatour.com.
