"Draft" Gold Pro-Am Selection Process Back for the Third
Year |
|

|
|
Do
you remember when the selection process for a pro-am involved
ping-pong balls and a revolving bin? It is a process similar
to drawing numbers in a bingo parlor. It seems primitive in
today's technology era, but it's the process still used at
most tournaments today. But not the EDS Byron Nelson
Championship.
For the third consecutive year in a row,
EDS is teaming up with its Agility Alliance partners - Cisco
and Microsoft - to help make the 2007 EDS Byron Nelson
Championship Gold Pro-Am the most unique pro-am drawing party
on the PGA TOUR.
The hi-tech system uses a random
number generator to determine the order in which participants
will select the pros they will play with. Available pros are
displayed alphabetically on two large screens. Once a pro is
selected, his name is grayed-out on the screen to help
indicate who is still available for the draw.
The
pairings are then displayed on a separate screen, along with
the course, starting tee and tee time. As the draw continues,
a large wall-screen displays all completed pairings for both
TPC and Cottonwood Valley Course.

Homage to Byron Nelson |
|

|
|
Tomorrow
at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship Opening Ceremony, chorale
students from J. Erik Jonsson Community School will sing an
original musical tribute to Byron Nelson, entitled "You Can Do
Anything." The song, boasting music and lyrics by
Jonsson
School's own music
specialist Kevin Roberts, was the children's way of giving
back to a man whose legacy will continue for years through the
J. Erik Jonsson Community School and the Salesmanship Club
Youth and Family Centers. For more
information contact Malinda Mason Miller, mmiller@salesmanshipclub.org.
