Media Registration Guidelines

Application Deadlines

Credential Applications: April 11, 2008
Credential Photos: April 14, 2008 *

Due to the volume of requests, the EDS Byron Nelson Championship cannot guarantee all credential requests will be filled. Therefore, all media organizations are strongly encouraged to apply early.

Applications will not be accepted on-site during Championship week.

Eligibility

Media credentials are reserved for working media only. Please do not request credentials for other departments or executives at your organization. The EDS Byron Nelson Championship submits all credential applications to the PGA TOUR for approval. The PGA TOUR will NOT approve credentials requested by personnel not directly involved with Championship coverage. Credentials for freelance photographers and journalists MUST be submitted by the editor of an eligible news organization.

Applications for credentials will be considered from the following media only:

  • Recognized daily/weekly newspapers
  • National and international radio and television networks
  • Local radio and television stations within the Championship’s coverage area
  • News and sports magazines with regular golf coverage
  • National or international golf magazines providing regular tournament coverage
  • Wire and news services
  • Recognized golf or news Web sites
  • Web sites that change content daily

Photo Requirements

If you received a media credential in 2007, we will use your photo from last year. PGA TOUR media credential holders do not need to submit a photo.

All new credential applicants must submit passport size color photos. Media credentials can not be issued without a photo.

Image files must be at least 2” x 2”, 300 dpi, in JPEG format. File size should not exceed 150 KB. Photos should be e-mailed to media@scdallas.org. Image files should be saved as lastname.firstname.jpg, according to the person who is pictured. The deadline to submit photos is April 14, 2008.

How to Apply

Complete the three-step online application process. If you are unable to complete the application process online, please e-mail your request for a printable version of the media credential application to media@scdallas.org. Once you complete the application process, you will be notified via e-mail that your application has been received, and you will be asked to e-mail credential photos for all members of your organization (unless you were credentialed in 2007) to media@scdallas.org.

Obtaining Credentials

The EDS Byron Nelson Championship submits all credential applications to the PGA TOUR for approval. You will be notified via e-mail of the status of your application within 10 business days. If your application is approved by the PGA TOUR, you will receive a credential claim form in the mail. This credential claim form will serve as a temporary credential, granting one-time access to parking and the Championship grounds to pick up permanent media credentials. No credentials will be mailed.

Monday, April 21 - Tuesday, April 22

Present credential claim form at the Byron Nelson Way Courseside Lot, enter the Championship grounds, and proceed to the Media Center, located inside The Sports Club (entrance near No.1 Tee).

Wednesday, April 23 - Sunday, April 27

Present credential claim form at the Academy ISD Lot. Take the shuttle to the main entrance of The Sports Club.

Upon arrival at the Media Center, located inside The Sports Club (entrance near No.1 Tee), you must present the credential claim form and photo identification to receive your permanent media credential. The permanent media credential grants you access to the Championship grounds and Media Center during Championship week. All media members MUST collect their own permanent media credentials in person.

To provide you with the best possible working conditions, permanent credentials are issued only to those personnel involved in Championship coverage.

Parking & Transportation

Media parking is very limited. Media parking is located in the Academy ISD Lot across MacArthur Blvd. from Championship grounds. A parking shuttle runs continuously between the Media Center and the parking area throughout Championship week.

Wireless Internet Access

The Media Center is equipped with Wi-Fi technology, providing complimentary wireless Internet access to all working media, courtesy of EDS. The wireless network can accommodate both Windows and Mac operating platforms, and it is a simple process that does not require downloading new software. Qualified EDS technicians are on-site to assist all working media.

Telephone Service

For your convenience, courtesy telephones are available in the Media Center. Courtesy telephones are equipped for local calls and long distance data transmissions. A credit card is required for long distance services.

If your organization would like to install a private business phone line, please contact AT&T at 972-719-6662 for arrangements.

Photography

Photo editors are asked to coordinate all photographer credentials and parking requirements with the editorial department of their news organizations. Credentials are only issued to those photographers providing timely coverage of the Championship.

Freelancers

Credentials for freelance photographers and journalists MUST be submitted by the editor of an eligible news organization.

Media Center Operations

The Media Center is located on the first indoor tennis court of The Sports Club, near the No. 1 Tee of the TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas.

The Media Center opens Monday, April 21, and is operated by Salesmanship Club of Dallas members and EDS Byron Nelson Championship staff, as well as PGA TOUR media officials.

Media Center Hours of Operation

Monday, April 21: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Tuesday, April 22 - Sunday, April 27: 7 a.m. - until media finish
